About the Heat Index (WBGT)

"Temperature" is an important factor in causing heatstroke, but in Japan's hot and humid environment, the risk of heatstroke cannot be assessed by temperature alone. The heat index (WBGT) published by the Ministry of the Environment focuses on the exchange of heat between people and the outside air (heat balance) and is calculated based on temperature, humidity, solar radiation/radiation, and wind factors, and is used to prevent heatstroke, especially during work or exercise.
